Venue of Merging Arts

Our mission is to rescue a historically significant former church building by transforming it into a unique venue in which various forms of artistic expression can merge together to promote, educate, entertain and involve the community in the arts.

About

VOMA is an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) non-profit community arts center located in the historic Cambria City section of Johnstown.

VOMA is housed in a former church that was constructed in 1911 as St. Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church. In 1977, a newly formed congregation, St. George Serbian Orthodox Church acquired the property. By 2008 the property was no longer home to an active parish and had fallen into disrepair. A former Cambria City couple acquired the property that same year with a vision of re-purposing it into a unique community arts center. In 2012 the former church and parsonage house were donated to VOMA.
